Don’t Panic, Ignite Digital Has Your Back With The Google May 2022 Core Update

Did you hear about Google’s core update? Although Google has not yet released what the update will be we’re here to let you know what you can expect. Stay tuned – it’s going to be an interesting ride!

Why A Core Update?

Google’s core updates occur because the company is constantly working to improve its search engine algorithms. By releasing regular core updates, Google is able to fine-tune its search engine to provide the best possible results for users.

Google makes big changes to its ranking system a few times a year. These are called “core updates.” The goal of these updates is to make the search engine more helpful and useful for everyone. Today, Google released its May 2022 core update. This update will take about 1-2 weeks to go into full effect.

These releases, or updates, are usually major. The primary goal of core updates is to maintain Search’s pace with the evolving web. While there is no solid definition for a core update, certain changes may be noticed in how sites operate as a result of them. In the past, Google recommended that site owners understand what they should know about core upgrades:

  • Because they usually have significant effects, Google confirms broad core upgrades. Sites may report drops or gains during them. Google is aware that sites that suffer reductions will be looking for a solution, and it wants to make sure they don’t try to solve the wrong issues. Furthermore, there may not be anything to correct. However, we always advise readers to ensure they are prepared and aware of any updates before they review their SEO reports.
  • Pages that don’t do as well after a core update might not be violating any of Google’s webmaster guidelines. They have not been manually or algorithmically penalized. In fact, the changes to how Google assesses content may cause these pages to do better in the future.

What To Expect

We are always informing our clients and readers of any Google updates. However, we do not know what the update will be just yet as the announcement for the update was today (Wednesday, May 24, 2022). We will create another post providing all the information about the core update once Google announces what the update entails.
