How to Increase Lead Generation: Twitter Edition

Lead generation is a key purpose of social media marketing for businesses. If a social media platform is not driving leads or increasing brand awareness for a business, there is no use spending time on it. However, the key question is that why your social media tactics are not producing any results when so many businesses are benefiting from Twitter. B2B Companies generate twice the amount of leads/month when on Twitter! Before you think to stop using Twitter in your marketing campaign, you need to see whether they are being used effectively or not.

When we take over a social media account from a client, we typically see that the ideas were great but it was executed wrong.

For businesses trying to set up their business profile on Twitter or looking to improve the performance of their Twitter profile, here are some tactics that could lead to better lead generation:

Create Landing Pages for Link Provided

When you tweet messages with links in them, the links usually lead back to the homepage of your website. Terrible idea!

If you want to generate more leads, you need to create a separate landing page for users coming in through the link provided in your tweets.

Examples of Twitter (or social media) Landing pages:

• Customer Service Issues

• Potential Sales

• Product specific pages that are mobile friendly! (plenty of users interact on there mobile devices)

These Twitter landing pages on your site should provide users with information about your business, how your product or service can benefit them, and a strong call-to-action.

Please just don’t tweet back to your homepage. It’s a terrible idea that won’t get you the results you need.

Use Twitter Search Wisely

The search option and the advanced search feature are the most useful tools you can use to look for popular industry terms. Look for terms that users would most likely tweet for your industry.

As an example:
if you are a surf shop. Look for search terms like “catching a big wave” and “out surfing“. To get better results geo-target the terms to be only near your local surf shop. If your surf shop is in California, you won’t really care much about the Hawaii surfers.

Using these term ideas, you can understand what is currently happening in the industry and it would help you identify prospects you are not covering in your content. Respond back and develop a relationship. Never hard sell people. Respond to a tweet and create a conversation. After a couple tweets, then sell the by pushing them to your site.

Also find more specific people (influencers) to follow and start a dialogue with them, trying to lead them to your blog or other content on your website that is compelling.

Create a Blog

Research states that businesses that have a proper blog have more Twitter followers. This is because businesses with blogs have much more interesting and engaging content to share with their audiences. It is easy to draw your Twitter audience to your business blog using a link. Most businesses include call–to-action statements in their blog posts. Combined together with engaging content telling the audience why your product/service is good for them can deliver remarkable results in terms of lead generation.

If you really want your business profile on Twitter to generate a large number of leads, using it effectively is the key.

By following these tips, you can definitely achieve the results you are looking for. Don’t forget to check out our social media services! 😉
